This post comes late and after a rather long break from blogging, which is a very good thing sometimes.
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned the opening of an exhibition where some of my works were featured. The vernissage was very nice, I had a good time trying to escape to the upper part of [...]

The group exhibition “Works: Kleine arbeiten – aktuelle europäische Positionen” will open on Sunday, 13th December 2009, at the ACUD Kunstverein on the Veteranenstraße 21, 10119 Berlin-Mitte.
The exhibition will be on until the 20th of December 2009.
I’ll cite the description to give you an idea of what the exhibition is trying to achieve
Works will alles. [...]

I have decided I will make some major changes to the website, especially the portfolio sections. Chances are I will change a couple of times more in the future.
On the other hand, you (especially the readers currently in Berlin) are all invited to a group exhibition, “Works -aktuelle europäische Positionen” where will be featured some [...]

“Unfair and unbelievable!” are the words I have used the most today, along with the display of a sorry face. I know times are tough for everyone, I know times have always been tough in the arts an culture scene in general, but sometimes I still manage to be unpleasantly surprised.
The Weinmeisterhaus, the culture centre [...]

Today I recalled how we all are only guests on this planet.

November in Berlin.
This has been a month of reading, patient silence and not so patient attempt to get ahead of my desire to “know things”.
I have put my Holga to work and focused my attention on what I believe is my source of inspiration at the moment: the immediate and near world. I am not [...]

Barthes on captions: “By means of an often subtle dispatching, it remote-cotrols him towards a meaning chosen in advance” Roland Barthes, cited in “Photography Theory”, ed. James Elkins.

Sometimes in life you run into, or stumble upon, or simply get in contact with people in similar difficult situations, that is, precarious work situations, who also have a sense of humor.
A few weeks ago, one such kind of serendipitous event brought me in contact with Silvia, the initiator of the little “Best before news” [...]

I (we) spent the last weekend in Vienna, walking around, visiting exhibitions and eating out.
The (never-ending) train trip was worth it indeed. This, and other observations, should you be both Italian speaking and interested, were the subject of a blog post, followed by another blog post, on what I like to call my “personal blog“, [...]

Souvenirs from Vienna and a shiny blurriness of memories, and a new discovery.

A walk and a few shots to calm today’s anxiety. I wish I were not this extreme sometimes. No, the pictures are absolutely not extreme. This is me, thinking of revolutions, but still seeing and wanting to communicate beauty in this world. Can you do both?

Dear all, dear Canadian readers, today (8 October 2009), I will be part of the panel on the radio program “The Current” for their segment on interns. The segment is part of a larger series called “Work in progress“, which explores “developing trends in how we work”.
You can listen to it at 8:30 a.m. (9:00 [...]

It has been a very busy couple of weeks.
Among the interesting things that have happened.
I was interviewed by journalist Marco Patruno, author of the blog Generazione P. Here you can go and read the interview, which is in Italian, in case you are wondering.
I received my price for being among the winners of the contest [...]

I recently read a book about Miroslav Tichý, a painter and photographer born in Moravia in 1929 who constantly refused to conform to the Communist regime’s conventions, which were dictated also through a drastic change in professors at the Prague Academy of Arts where he was studying. The brutality of the regime and his personal [...]

From my window I see the garden of a Kita, and they sometimes unconsciously put in place the most beautiful and artistic installations, like this chair and table.

I am not the best when it comes to working with measurements. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I am not incredibly patient either. That’s why this post, or should I say, what lies beneath this post, comes as a total surprise.
When I was little, I spent a lot of time with [...]

It’s nice to take some time to think things through, look for new inspirational sources and come back with something fresh.
So I have been photographing a lot, I have been learning how to sew, I re-discovered my childhood passion for fabrics, and I have been doing some thinking about how I want this project to [...]

I am learning how to sew. So I went to the market to get some nice fabric for my projects.
I pointed the camera very close to the fabric to get very blurry and beautiful photos. Colors are beautiful.

Translation: So tell me, what internship do you want to do when you’re older?
Paternalism makes me sick. It really does.
In the particular field of “young”, especially when it has to do with jobs and careers, paternalism seems to rule in the media (and not only). What does this have to do with internships and my [...]
