Bangladesh
I went to Bangladesh during the summer of 2006 on what I considered a very special family trip.
In fact, I have lived with this culture, its food and its music for many years, through the company of my aunt, a Bangladeshi. She and her family, living in Italy, travel back home almost every summer and it seemed almost natural that at one point I would join them.
The portraits display relatives and strangers on the street, who allowed me to come into their lives for a brief period of time. They were not told to pose, communication happened quite instinctively. Being a woman – unaccompanied, that is, without a husband – I had to rely a lot on my aunt and her explaining that I am related to her.
