Souvenirs from Vienna and a shiny blurriness of memories, and a new discovery.

8th October 2009

A walk and a few shots to calm today’s anxiety. I wish I were not this extreme sometimes. No, the pictures are absolutely not extreme. This is me, thinking of revolutions, but still seeing and wanting to communicate beauty in this world. Can you do both?

7th September 2009 – Miroslav Tichý

I recently read a book about Miroslav Tichý, a painter and photographer born in Moravia in 1929 who constantly refused to conform to the Communist regime’s conventions, which were dictated also through a drastic change in professors at the Prague Academy of Arts where he was studying. The brutality of the regime and his personal [...]

2nd September 2009

From my window I see the garden of a Kita, and they sometimes unconsciously put in place the most beautiful and artistic installations, like this chair and table.

Sewing off topic – Finding fabric in Berlin

I am not the best when it comes to working with measurements. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I am not incredibly patient either. That’s why this post, or should I say, what lies beneath this post, comes as a total surprise.
When I was little, I spent a lot of time with [...]

Updates on the project “Structurally recyclable, basically disposable”

It’s nice to take some time to think things through, look for new inspirational sources and come back with something fresh.
So I have been photographing a lot, I have been learning how to sew, I re-discovered my childhood passion for fabrics, and I have been doing some thinking about how I want this project to [...]

14th August 2009

I am learning how to sew. So I went to the market to get some nice fabric for my projects.
I pointed the camera very close to the fabric to get very blurry and beautiful photos. Colors are beautiful.

Pictures of a day – 26th July 2009

We went out for a very late breakfast at a very cute café in our neighbourhood.
Everything is freshly home made, the cakes and the coffee are delicious. A nice refreshing moment.

It’s nice to walk around on a sunny day and the city offers many inspiring views. Mostly small neglected things.

I am waiting for the instant paper to come in

Pictures of a day – 18th July 2009

The internet was down yesterday evening.
Saturday was a good and full day. We welcomed two new members of our family, Leonardo and Sophie, two black-and-white cats, brother and sister. They are giving us plenty of love already.

Pictures of a day – or how to start a new tradition

I can’t communicate well lately. I mainly take pictures of things and situations that help me express myself or that struck me particularly.
Let’s just say I would like to use this form of “therapy” to help me get through other days like these, but, why not, also to simply mark a good day.
I’ll try to [...]

A small experiment on space appropriation

When I first moved to Berlin, I spent the initial couple of days trying to appropriate the space in the appartment. I didn’t feel exactly “at home”.
I tried feeling better by taking pictures in different rooms of the appartment to establish my own vision, to create a sort of “self-referential” image of how I wanted [...]

On, pause, off

Today I stop to think and realize how photography is the only way I can really interact with the world.
I can only talk through the way I perceive others. I can’t quite do it in any other way. I like silent observation.

I don’t like the childish debate-like interaction that sometimes comes out of seemingly interesting [...]

Tango nights portfolio added

One of the most beautiful times in Geneva was the spring. The city parks are colorful and the season of festivals and cultural events is just starting.
The Garden Party is one of them, followed then by “la Fête de la musique” and later on “les Fêtes de Genève” which officially end the summer time.
The portfolio [...]

The reasons behind “Structurally recyclable, basically disposable”. Some personal thoughts

The idea for “Structurally recyclable, basically disposable” is the result of a series of thoughts and realizations. This project has a special importance to me because it stems from personal experiences as an intern. Many ask me where I got the idea, why I decided to make a photography project out of it.
I tackle all [...]

Development of photo ideas: thinking “inside the box”

Structurally recyclable, basically disposable is a project which will try to give a representation of the feelings and frustrations most often felt by interns with the aid of pictures and other visual means. Photographs are powerful tools and because of their power, one needs to test and be extremely precise as to the way in [...]
